We had the pleasure in collaborating with designer and maker, Anna Wiscombe this Autumn on a new range. This involved making 150 limited edition wooden houses. She lives and works in London but draws most of her inspirations from where she grew up in Dorset. Anna is known for her beautifully crafted wooden birds and flowers.

We first met anna through taking part in many art fairs around London. Here is our blog chat with her about her inspirations, our collaboration and her plans ahead.

What do you do? I'm a designer maker working in wood creating lovely wooden home wares and jewellery inspired by my childhood in the beautiful Dorset countryside.

Whats your creative background? I studied Fine Art at University and after graduating spent quite a few years finding my way making different work and working part time to support myself.  When I started making with wood though something about it just felt right and my first product ranges developed very quickly and easily.  I left my job about a year later and haven't looked back!

Who and what inspires you? I'm hugely inspired by nature and my childhood in the countryside. I love going back to Dorset to draw and get ideas for new products.

Whats the 'House Series' collaboration about and how did you meet Scout Editions? I'd known Scout Editions through the London market circuit for a year or so and had always loved and admired their work.  When Pui approached me to see if we could make something in wood that would compliment the new range of homewares they'd recently launched I jumped at the chance!

The House Series collaboration is a set of little wooden houses we've created full of cute details from each of our work and delicately painted to give them a beautiful illustrative finish.

What materials do you use in your work and why? Pretty much just wood at the moment!  It's a beautiful material to work with, always different with little quirks and changes in colour and texture and it compliments the nature focus that my products have perfectly.

Out of all the houses in the House Series collection, which house or houses are your favourite?

My favourite is the Mews, I love the little details on the cactus and the beautiful shapes on the roof. It was lovely to paint too!

If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be? It would be great to live in Portugal at some point - Lisbon and Porto are beautiful cities that I love.  I'd definitely like to return to Dorset in the future too - it always feels like home.

What are your plans or ideas for 2016? So many plans and ideas and always so little time!  I'm going to be launching some new things in 2016 that I've been working on for ages so watch this space!
